Walk Among the Spirits:
Once I encountered Tahoe’s diverse environment, I found that the images around me expressed their own ideas, that all I had to do was be attentive and receptive to them. When I looked carefully, I found that often the iconic shapes of the natural landscape transformed themselves into something before my eyes, and this surreality found in nature began to appear in my photographs.
Many of my images play with the relative sizes of the components through the angle and composition of the frame, while others explore changes in a scene over time. Rather than reiterating the classic “big picture” view of the west, I focused on the smaller details of the landscape, the details that revealed themselves to be more than what a viewer might see at first glance.
